Wound Care Melbourne comprise of a team of doctors and nurses dedicated to provide surgical wound care advice and knowledge to help treat and manage surgical wounds to promote rapid healing with the best functional and aesthetic results.

We provide education, support and treatment for surgical wounds, including cleaning, dressing and other treatments for more complex wounds. We link with allied health and private specialists to help achieve a multidisciplinary approach to wound healing.

Located in Malvern, our wound care team assess your wound and develop a personalised plan to help minimise further wound healing delays and enhance recovery through comprehensive wound care management.

Excellent wound care helps to prevent potential complications such as infections and promotes optimal healing times, best functional and aesthetic results. If a wound isn’t healing or there is redness, increasing pain, fever, swelling, warmth, oozing or pus, or the wound smells, you should seek medical attention immediately.

Patient care process:

  • 1. Initial Consultation

Telehealth Consultation

Your initial consultation will be conducted with one of our doctors via telehealth to provide you with ease of accessibility and without having to travel. In this consultation an in-depth assessment of your background health, medications, lifestyle, and initial assessment of the affected limb (wound) will be performed.

Further imaging including X-ray, Ultrasound, CT or MRI and/or blood tests may be required to assess you for nutritional deficits .If required with any necessary referrals will be emailed directly to you.

  • 2. Clinic Appointment

Your subsequent follow-up appointment will be carried out in our clinic, in person, with a wound care specialist nurse. Photographs will taken of your wound with and a detailed wound assessment performed.

The clinical photographs will assist in accurately monitoring the progress of your wound healing. At this appointment cleaning and/or debridement of  your wound will be carried out as needed ,with appropriate wound dressings applied.

  • 3. Wound Care Plan

A comprehensive wound management plan will be written in consultation with you as sent to you and your General Practitioner.

Our team will take the time and effort to ensure you clearly understand all the elements of your wound care plan and what you need to do for your wound in between visits, including goals of treatment, pain management strategies, washing, wound dressing and daily ongoing management. This plan will be reviewed and updated regularly as required.

  • 4. Follow-up Care

Follow up care

Our aim is to get you on the right path to guide your wound healing journey to promote rapid healing with the best functional and aesthetic results. Our team are here to help with wound care follow-up advice to aid proper healing, infection prevention and recovery.
